Lord Loss by Darren Shan

Darren Shan is known by the name of Master of Horror, and in this book you can tell why! This is the first book of the series called The Demonata Darren Shan has wrote and it's even more exciting than the one before.


Grubbs Grady was living a normal teenage life up until he was told he was staying at a relitives for the night; while his family went to see a show. Being the inquizative boy he his, he knows that there up to somthing. On a mission to find out whats really happening he discovers his family have been killed by demons. This is the start of a battle. Grubbs wants his questions answered. He then meets his distant Uncle who answers most of them. On his own, Grubbs finds out a dark secret about The Grady family, but will it affect him? A head on battle will commence.


Lord Loss is a exciting book which at times had by heart racing. Darren Shans description really created detailed images and made me want to read on. Sometimes i felt that i knew Grubbs! It is quite graphic so i wouldn't suggest for young readers!


I would recomend this book to anyone who enjoys horror or supernatural stories. This book has forced me to read the next one and it has scared me already!

Darren Shan has a film out about one of his books called Cirque Du Freak. I think that the book was much better so i would reccomend that even if you thought the film was bad. This is suitable for younger readers too.

Brigands M.C. by Robert Muchamore

As one of the most recent books in the Cherub series by Robert Muchermore, Brigands M.C. has been a great success, with great sales and superb reviews, from me and from other book readers. The book is the 11th in the series and carries on the story which concentrates mainly on the character James and his secret missions, however Muchamore adds Dante; a 14 year old eager for revenge on the man who killed his family but finds out if he has the heart to?

Throughout this book, Robert Muchamore creates emotion by referring back to the thought of his dead family. The quotation "Dante imagined that his mum was watching him from heaven or something. She'd undoubtedly be pleased that he'd washed his hands" made me feel sad but pleasantly happy at the same time.

Near to the end I felt as if I was there, Robert Muchamore created the scene so well! Throughout the book I was on the edge of my seat wanting to read more!

The only downfall i can see is that the language is fairly basic although the description is still good. However, this book is for young teenagers who are still developing there writing skills.

I would recomend this to anyone who loves a bit of action! This has to be one of his best books yet! So I am giving it *****.
